Plesiosaurs were amazing underwater reptiles that lived before the flood. They could grow up to 15 feet long and weigh as much as 1,000 pounds. The name of this reptile means “almost lizard.”

Some people think that the Loch Ness Monster is a type of Plesiosaur that is still alive today. Most people consider the Plesiosaurs to be extinct, but there have been other examples where creatures that were thought to be extinct were found to still be alive and well today. One example is the Coelacanth – a fish that was thought to have gone extinct 66 million years ago, but was recently found alive and well along the coastline of Indonesia and in the Indian Ocean.

The reason the Coelacanth fish were thought to be extinct is because there were no fossils of them found in the rock layers that evolutionists considered more recent than 66 million years. So it was assumed that they must have died out that long ago. But the fact that they were found, still alive and well today, brings into question the assumption that the rock layers in the earth represent millions of years of time. In fact, much evidence indicates that the rock layers were laid down very quickly in a worldwide flood. This would explain why some Coelacanths are still alive today, even though there is no record of them in the later portions of the fossil record.

Could it be that some Plesiosaurs might have survived to modern times as well? It seems possible. Sailors and fisherman for hundreds of years have been reporting strange sea monsters out in the ocean. And in the Loch Ness of Scotland people have been reporting seeing strange long necked creatures since 565 AD. But until someone finds concrete evidence we will not know for sure.
